Lumense Traditional Dance
Lumense dance is a dance that originated from Tokotu'a, Bombana regency, Southeast Sulawesi. Lumense word itself comes from the local language meaning lume fly high and mense meaning. So, lumense can mean flying high. Lumense dance itself comes from Kabaena district. Moronene tribes were the original inhabitants of this region. Ancestors of this tribe are old Malay nation of the Indian dating back to prehistoric times. Geographically, the district is the largest island after Kabaena Buton and Muna in southeastern Sulawesi. Historically, the first sub Kabaena under royal rule Buton so kinship between Kabaena and Buton was very closely. It also influenced the development of culture in the region including dance Kabaena Lumense.
Lumense dance is one tradition or Kabaena Tokotu'a, Bombana in welcoming guests at parties people. This dance is performed by women's groups totaling 12 people, 6 people act as men and 6 other role as permepuan. The dancers use Tokotu'a or Kabaena customary fashion. For the dancers who act as women wearing maroon red skirt and black shirt tops. This dress is called the taincombo the bottom like a mermaid dress. For dancers who act as men wearing taincombo combined with a red scarf. Group of men wearing korobi (machete scabbard of wood) is strapped to the left waist.The dance begins with the movement back and forth, exchanging places then form the letter Z configuration was changed to S, the movement displayed a dynamic movement called moomani or ibing. The climax of this dance is when the dancer continue moomani then cut with a machete to the banana tree, banana tree until it fell to the ground together. This is the cover of the dance the dancers form a semicircle configuration while linking hands with each other and then move it up and down while offsetting legs back and forth. This dance is accompanied by music from the music instrument of the drum and gong (laughter-laughter) and a small gong (ndengu-ndengu). To accompany this dance is only needed three drummers the music device while in the dance play takes some banana saplings as supporting property.
Origin In the past in a ritual dance performed Lumense pe-olia, the ritual worship of spirits called kowonuano (ruler / owner of the land) to present the various types of food. This ritual means kowonuano pleased that repel all sorts of disasters. Closing of the ritual is slashing banana trees. This dance is also often displayed during the reign of the Sultanate of Buton. Along with the development, function Lumense dance began to shift. Others have suggested that Lumense dance tells the story of the social conditions of the people Kabaena today. Kabaena public mode of production is farming or farming, people are still doing traditional patterns are clearing forests for agriculture.
