Rejang Kejei Dance a folk art performed at every harvest season comes. The dance is played by the young people in the village centers at night in the middle of lighting lanterns.
The specificity of this dance is the accompanying musical instruments made of bamboo, such as kulintang, flutes and gongs. Played by a group of people dance in a circle facing each direction like clockwork.
This dance was first reported by a merchant Pasee, named Hassanuddin Al-Pasee the trade to Bengkulu in 1468. But, there is also a description of Fhathahillah Al Pasee, who in 1532 visited redjang ground.
Kejei dance is believed to have existed before the arrival of the monks of Majapahit. Since the monks came, his instrument was replaced with metal tools, as used to date. Kejei event done in a long time, can be up to 9 months, 3 months, 15 days or 3 days in a row.
