Hudoq festival is a kind of gratitude in the form of dance that was held by the sub-ethnic Dayaks in East Kalimantan province. Hudoq dance is art that uses masks and costumes, therefore barongan Hudoq including art classes.
Etymology
Hudoq means incarnate, therefore wearing a bird mask symbolizes transformed into a bird.
Confidence
According to traditional beliefs of Bahau, Busang, Modang, Ao'heng and Penihing, Hudoq is 13 pests that damage crops such as mice, lions, crows, etc.. In the festival Hudoq symbolized by dancers who wear masks that represent pests and vests are made of nut or banana tree bark. Dance done when the two men came out and chase Hudoq Hudoq pests. Dance duration is 1-5 hours.
